What can I do about rats in my yard?
Rats can be found anywhere humans are found. They are resourceful and take advantage of the surplus of food sources available around the city. To keep rats from your home:
- Seal any holes that are in exterior walls, floors, and foundations using sheet metal, cement or wire mesh.
- Seal basement windows with wire mesh.
- Eliminate clutter around the outside of your home and under porches.
- Store garbage in metal or heavy plastic containers with tight fitting lids.
- Remove uneaten pet food and store it in secure containers.
- Add metal weather stripping and trim to doors to prevent rats from gnawing and entering under neath.
