Dr. McAndrew received her Bachelor of Zoological Sciences from North Carolina State University and graduated from the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with a focus in Zoological Medicine. Dr. McAndrew completed a Shelter Medicine Fellowship through the University of Wisconsin and UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program in 2016. She brings with her leadership experience in shelters of varying sizes and mission focus in Texas, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia. Dr. McAndrew is excited to use her experience to lead HRA in progressive use of resources to improve upon the medical care and outreach services to benefit the local community, as well as the greater animal welfare community across social, economic, and cultural divides.Additionally, Dr. McAndrew has interest in teaching, surgery, forensics, and exotic/wildlife medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, hiking, crafting, and dancing. She returns to Washington, DC with her dogs, Amy and Goober (an HRA foster-fail) and two cats, Bella and Lucy.
