Andrea Messina joined the Humane Rescue Alliance in July 2019 as chief development officer. Andrea oversees the Humane Rescue Alliance’s development department, managing annual fundraising, online giving, grants, corporate philanthropy and events. Andrea has a deep knowledge of the DC fundraising environment, serving most recently as chief development officer at Bread for the City. Andrea managed annual fundraising at Bread for the City securing transformative six and seven figure gifts from private foundations, federal and local government, corporations, and individuals. She also led a $26M capital campaign for the organization. Previously, Andrea held a variety of fundraising roles at not for profits, and has deep experience in development, communications, and change management initiatives across the social and private sectors. Andrea received her MBA from Georgetown University, a BA in Psychology from the Catholic University of America, and is a graduate of Accomplishment Coaching Coaches’ Training Program, having lead more than 100 hours of professional leadership coaching.
