In order to limit COVID-19 exposure we will be switching to virtual adoption services only through our adoption center and robust network of area foster homes starting Friday, December 24 through mid-January. The health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff, and the community we serve remain our top priority.
From the comfort of your home you can select an animal, set up a virtual meet and greet, and even conduct a virtual adoption counseling session. Our traditional adoption center is temporarily closed, but we are very much open for adoptions. We have many wonderful animals waiting to meet you.
Find an animal you are interested in by searching our online database at humanerescuealliance.org/adopt. Adoptable animals are viewable online, in real time.

ANIMALS IN FOSTER HOMES
Using the contact information located in the animal’s online bio, email the foster parent directly for more information about the animal and to set up an opportunity to meet the animal virtually.
After you meet an animal virtually, HRA staff and volunteers will help you schedule your remote counseling session and complete an adoption inquiry. Please note: animals are not placed on hold until a counseling session is scheduled and confirmed.
During the counseling session, an HRA staff member will review important background about the animal–including all medical and behavioral information we have on record. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss considerations to have when welcoming your newest family member into your home.
All adoption counseling for animals will occur virtually, either by phone or video call. We ask that you be prepared to bring home your pet within 24-48 hours of your virtual counseling session.
Once counseling is complete, coordinate with the foster or HRA adoptions staff on a mutually agreed upon time and place for pickup of the animal or at our adoption center. Please bring an appropriate means of transporting your animal to your home while working to adhere to safe social distancing protocols.
We'll send fresh, amazing content straight to your inbox so you can keep a pulse on your animal community.
