A Humane Rescue Alliance investigation into suspected animal cruelty in NE DC led to the rescue of a female puppy today under a search and seizure warrant obtained by HRA Humane Law Enforcement Officers.
The investigation began when a member of the public reported a man was physically abusing a puppy. HRA officers named the dog Lois.
“It is a truly monstrous act of cruelty to brutally beat an innocent puppy, and often times people who abuse animals don’t stop there,” said Chris Schindler, vice president of field services at the Humane Rescue Alliance. “We’ll continue to investigate this case, not only to seek justice for Lois, but for the safety of our community.”
The case remains under investigation. Lois is in the care of HRA, where she will be thoroughly examined by a veterinarian and receive any necessary medical treatment.
