HRA hosted Michael Shikashio, CDBC and Trish McMillan Loehr, CPDT-KA, ACCBC, CDBC on September 8 and 9 for a two-day workshop on safety, defensive handling, and the most effective behavior modification techniques to use with aggressive dogs. Close to 70 trainers, behavior consultants, veterinarians, and shelter staff from around the area showed up for the presentation.
"We were thrilled to host this, because Trish and Michael have decades of hands-on experience with aggression issues and are highly respected experts in our field," said HRA Director of Animal Behavior and Training Alexandra Dilley.
The attendees learned valuable skills like canine body language and precursers to aggression, safety and management equipment, tips to safely break up a dog fight, and how to conduct shelter dog play groups. Our behavior and training team is proud to be able to host informative and potentially lifesaving events for animal welfare professionals in the region.
