Mighty Aphrodite: Groundbreaking Surgery Gives Aphrodite a Second Chance

Aphrodite's jet black fur and piercing green eyes are striking. Even more so is the rare and severe medical condition this young cat fought to overcome the first six months of her life. At just eight weeks old, Aphrodite was surrendered to the Humane Rescue Alliance with her two siblings. HRA Veterinarian Supports the Spayathon for Puerto Rico

Last week, Humane Rescue Alliance veterinarian, Dr. Jackie Hathaway, was on the ground supporting the second round of Spayathon for Puerto Rico , in partnership with The Humane Society of the United States. This ambitious project is aiming to provide free spay/neuter and vaccination services to 30,000 dogs and cats over 12 months. Sophie's Fund: Providing Critical Care to Animals in Need

Earlier this month Jamal was found painfully limping along busy New York Avenue in Northeast DC and brought to the Humane Rescue Alliance for help. When our medical staff examined Jamal, they discovered his left rear femur was severely fractured. Bones were broken and out of alignment, and could not have healed on their own.
