The Humane Rescue Alliance offers appointments for spay/neuter surgery for dogs and cats over 4 months old, at our medical center located at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, Washington, DC 20011. Appointments are available on a limited basis and must be scheduled in advance.  Please review the information below, and when ready to schedule, call 202-723-5730 to make your appointment.

All prices include surgery, nail trim, standard pain medication and an e-collar.  Additional charges may apply for conditions that arise during surgery.

  • Dog Spay $150
  • Dog Neuter $120
  • Cat Spay $100
  • Cat Neuter $65

We are happy to administer a microchip to your pet while in surgery for an additional charge of $15 (includes lifetime registration with microchip company).

Surgical Requirements and Recommendations

  • Animals must be at least four months old and weigh at least two pounds.
  • Surgery is available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only.
  • Your pet must be dropped off at 8 a.m. the day of surgery and picked up at 4 p.m. the same day. Late arrivals will be rescheduled for another day, and late pickups will be charged a $25 late fee.
  • For their own protection, all dogs and cats must be current on vaccinations, based on their age and species, prior to scheduling a surgical appointment. Rabies vaccines are required for pets 4 months and older. More information about HRA's weekly vaccine clinics is available here.
  • For your pet’s safety, pre-operative blood work is required for pets over 7 years of age. We will perform bloodwork on the same day of the surgery at a cost of $60, which will be added to the surgery fees. Please note, in order to ensure your senior pet receives the attention they need, appointments for pets of this age will be limited.
