Sam Matlick

Sam Matlick, owner of Train My Dog and Me, offers private, in-home training sessions, as well as a day training program, focused on your dog’s needs. In certain circumstances, her dogs serve as training assistants. Sam also teaches Puppy K, Basic and Intermediate Manners, and dog sports on Wednesday evenings and Sundays, at the Humane Rescue Alliance Training Center. Sam’s training philosophy is simple: It's all about the relationship between the dog and the handler. If you're looking for a living-happily-ever-after ending with your dog, it's so worth the time and effort, and she can help you get there.

Initial Consultation Rate:
REGISTER: 60-90 minutes as needed at $195

The initial consultation goes through all of the dog's history as well as the family situation. The initial consultation lays the ground work for all future training sessions by identifying the goals for the dog and handlers, and is used to create a training program to meet and exceed these goals.

Single In-Home Private Session Rate:
REGISTER: Initial Consultation Fee + 50 minutes at $125 per session

Ideal for addressing specific issues, private sessions are held in your home or at an agreed upon park or public place, and are customized for your training priorities. Each session is suitable for dogs of all ages and is scheduled for your convenience. For most clients, Sam meets with the owner and dog 3 to 6 times (usually once a week). The owner and dog have homework each week to develop the relationship between them, build trust, and learn basic manners.

Training Packages

Day Training:

REGISTER: Initial Consultation Fee + 50 minutes at $125 per session

We offer two variables for day training - training in your home, or training in Sam’s home. Day training slots are extremely limited, and dogs requesting day training must have an in-home consultation prior to being accepted into the program. For training in your home, Sam comes into your home on a daily basis and works with your dog there. These sessions include a walk or outing of some kind. Depending on the issues involved, the program will last between 2 and 4 weeks, five days a week.

The owner has to be involved in the training process so that the learning can be transferred. It's important for both the dog and the owner to learn - otherwise, the training doesn't tend to stick. One session a week with the handler and dog is recommended while the program is ongoing, with follow-up sessions after that if necessary.
