Dr. Hathaway started volunteering for the Humane Rescue Alliance in April of 2016 which soon transitioned into her working full time as a staff veterinarian after her graduation from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Green!) in May. As Medical Director of Shelter Veterinary Services, Dr. Hathaway oversees the medical services provided to HRA shelter animals to ensure that they receive the best quality care and can put their best foot forward when it comes time for adoption.Dr. Hathaway has been in the veterinary and shelter fields for over 10 years, working and volunteering in many practices including volunteering for the former Washington Humane Society CatNipp clinics over 8 years ago! She is currently working toward her Masters in Shelter Medicine through the University of Florida. At home, Dr. Hathaway is "owned" by two dogs - Manny and Penny - and three cats - Skid, Ninja, and Tum-Tum. She is also a hobby chicken farmer aka "the egg lady." She also enjoys baking, gardening, crafting, and rooting for the Washington Capitals.
