Catherine joined the Washington Humane Society in 2015 as the Director of Human Resources after she opened her home and heart to her adopted her pit bull from the New York Avenue adoption center. This pup not only changed Catherine’s life for the better but has further raised her awareness of humane treatment and wellness for animals and with issues that surround breed-specific legislation. Her fond adoption experience inspired her to continue her Human Resources career with an organization that has such impact and influence in the D.C. Community.Catherine has more than 20 years of progressive and diverse experience in a variety of areas of Human Resources and is recognized as a hands-on leader. She started her career as a Staffing Specialist and EEO Counselor at the National Gallery of Art, and then went on to become the Corporate Recruiter and Senior Compensation Analyst for BNA, Inc. Most recently, Catherine was the Employment Manager at WETA TV/FM 90.9, before joining the Washington Humane Society, and now proudly serves as the Vice President of Human Resources for the Humane Rescue Alliance.Catherine is an alumna of Dickinson College and can often been seen performing and choreographing for local DC theaters. She and her pup, Zoey, recently adopted their foster kitten, Tavi. All three look forward to sharing their DC home to future foster animals.
