Debbie Duel, the Humane Rescue Alliance’s Director of Humane Education, has more than 30 years of experience in humane education including classroom programming, teacher trainings, conference workshops, and camp development. She is the author of two books, Nigel, chronicling her dog’s journey from starvation at the end of a chain to a beloved reading buddy at local libraries, and William’s Story, chronicling the difficult life of an abandoned cat. Debbie is featured as the humane education expert in the National Geographic’s 125 Pet Rescues and has contributed articles to the Latham Letter and compiled and wrote Violence Prevention and Intervention: A Directory of Animal-Related Programs for The Humane Society of the United States, 2000. Debbie received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and master’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins University. A Florida transplant, Debbie is happiest at the beach, preferably when it's above 85 degrees!
