Dr. Joshua Woolsey comes to HRA from the Maryland SPCA in Baltimore where he served as the Director of Veterinary Services for the past 14 months after working for the organization for approximately 3 years as a contract veterinarian. At Maryland SPCA, he led five veterinarians and a support team of 25, with responsibility for the organization's shelter medicine, wellness medical clinic and spay/neuter service. Before joining Maryland SPCA, he was a veterinarian for Baltimore County Animal Control, Montgomery County, and for the Washington Animal Rescue League prior to the merger with the Washington Humane Society.
In addition to his shelter medicine and animal control experience, Dr. Woolsey has worked as an emergency and critical care veterinarian with the Hope Center and VCA, and has extensive experience with wildlife care, having worked for more than 17 years with a variety of Wildlife Centers, Fish and Wildlife Departments, and the USDA. Dr. Woolsey also has experience doing field spay surgery on deer in support of several population control projects.
“I am delighted to join HRA,” said Woolsey. “This organization is a leader in the field of animal welfare and I’m very excited to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to working with the talented staff at HRA for years to come to continue to enhance animal welfare in this community”
