Meow DC, Washington’s Only Feline Festival, Returns this Spring

The second annual Meow DC cat festival will return on May 30 for another day filled with all things relating to cats.

Not only will Meow DC cater to our community’s ever-growing population of cat lovers, but it will support our local animal welfare organization, the Humane Rescue Alliance. Unlike events with similar missions in other cities, 100 percent of proceeds from this fundraising event will support the many programs and services HRA provides to the community.

Thanks to the support of sponsors like Hill’s and the NOVA Cat Clinic, this second annual cat fest will be bigger and better than the first. Meow DC 2020 will feature:

  • Instagram-famous cats and influencers in the cat world:

TrapKing, Sterling Davis (@the_original_trapking), who will discuss trap-neuter-return in a big city and how to care for community cats, along with breaking the stereotype of who a “cat person” can be.

Pip the Beach Cat (@imfeelingpipsy), an Ocean City, Maryland, local.

Mr. Dobbs (@i_am_mr_dobbs), who is traveling in for the event from New York City in what is sure to be a fabulous outfit.

Sunglass Cat (@sunglasscat) who’s returning to Meow DC by popular demand.

  • Cat adoption event: HRA, in partnership with other local animal welfare organizations, will be onsite with mobile adoption vehicles for a cat adoption event.
  • Cat lounge: Stop by the Cat Lounge to visit with adoptable cats looking for loving, new homes, while enjoying a drink at the bar. Mingle with other feline fanatics while helping find homes for lovable kitties.
  • Short films: Meow DC is partnering with The Cat Film Festival for a showing of cat-themed short films.
  • Vendor booths: There will be more than 50 vendor booths offering merchandise for cat enthusiasts including clothing, artwork, jewelry, and of course items for your cat. There will also be interactive activities where guests will walk away with something fun showcasing their love for cats.
  • Speakers: There will be presentations on topics such as community cats, ask the veterinarian, cat behavior, and social media and your cat.
  • Giveaways: Free giveaways from Tuft + Paw, Litter-Robot, and Kuranda ShelterBeds.

Tickets to Meow DC are $40. The first 200 people to purchase tickets will receive an exclusive piece of Meow DC merchandise along with a complimentary drink in the Cat Lounge.
