The Humane Rescue Alliance announced today that Terri Fariello has been named chairperson of its board of directors.
Fariello is the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Global Public Policy at United Airlines. Prior to joining United in 2017, Fariello spent 16 years at ExxonMobil in various leadership positions.
Fariello has been an HRA board member since 2011 and has served on the executive committee and led the development committee. Under her leadership as co-chair of the Bark Ball, HRA’s major annual fundraiser, Fariello helped raise several million dollars, which in turn has helped HRA carry out its mission.
“I am thrilled to welcome Terri Fariello as the new chairperson of the board for the Humane Rescue Alliance,” said Lisa LaFontaine, President and CEO of HRA. “Since her election to the board in 2011, Terri has served as head of the development committee; she has also chaired our annual gala, the Bark Ball, for seven years. Terri is a proven leader who inspires those around her. She is deeply passionate about the HRA mission and our vision for the future. The entire board and I look forward to what the organization will accomplish under her dynamic leadership.”
“As a life-long passionate animal lover and advocate for animal welfare, I am deeply honored to lead the Humane Rescue Alliance’s board of directors to help protect animals in need in the DC community, where I also reside,” said Fariello. “I look forward to working with the HRA family and our many supporters to make 2020 our most impactful year yet.”
Fariello holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from George Washington University, a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law, and a Master of Laws degree in international and comparative law from the Georgetown University Law Center. She serves on numerous boards, including the National Archives Foundation, Ford’s Theatre Board of Governors, the Public Affairs Council, The Economic Club of Washington, and the Meridian International Center.
HRA’s board of directors is made up of 17 dedicated and influential leaders charged with oversight of the District’s provider of all animal protection services, as well as St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey.
