Yesterday, Mayor Muriel Bowser joined Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd, and Humane Rescue Alliance President and CEO, Lisa LaFontaine, to sign the Extreme Weather Protection for Animals Emergency legislation into law. Introduced by Councilmember Todd, the legislation will establish temporary protections from extreme cold weather for dogs in the District of Columbia, until permanent legislation can be enacted.
We salute Councilmember Todd’s leadership in spearheading this legislation. This emergency bill strengthens DC's anti cruelty laws, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Council on permanent legislation to further protect the animals of the District of Columbia.
