Over the course of two weeks, two beloved dogs are alive today because of the unwavering, quick, resourcefulness of Humane Rescue Alliance field services dispatcher, Karen Sweigard. Symba's Weight Loss Journey

Symba came to the Humane Rescue Alliance last week after his previous owner moved to an assisted living facility and wasn't able to bring Symba along. He reported over the phone that sweet Symba weighed nearly 40 pounds—which our staff was surprised to hear and thought surely he must be overestimating. 2017 Brings Second Chance to Emaciated Dog

Late last December, on a cold and snowy night, two Good Samaritans found a 10-month-old American bulldog abandoned in a dog crate in Northeast DC. He was little more than a pile of skin and bones, lying in a giant puddle of urine and feces, and as close to frozen as a living dog could possibly be.
