Affordable Pet Care

Providing Affordable Pet Care

The Medical Center is open and available to all families, regardless of income.

The Humane Rescue Alliance operates the only local veterinary facility that offers discounted, full-service care to income-qualified families, including Help Out, Partner, and Educate (HOPE) program recipients. To qualify for a discount, clients must have an income of $55,000 per year or less and be able to show a photo identification.

With services provided to more than 5,000 income-qualified patients annually, they are able to care for their animal companions for ongoing routine care and when they become sick or injured.

Food Bank

The Humane Rescue Alliance hosts a permanent community pet food and supply bank to help families hold on to and care for their animal companions during difficult times. Supported entirely by private donations, the Rescuers’ Food Bank collects donations of food, toys, and supplies for cats and dogs and distributes them to income-qualified clients free of charge.

HRA’s food and supply bank has become a critical lifeline for many people and animals in the area, helping to keep thousands of dogs and cats in loving homes and out of DC-area shelters.

To donate to our food bank, contact for guidelines and information. Food can also be shipped to HRA directly via Amazon’s dog or cat food portal.
